About visualization

Visualization is a rapidly expanding area, and an improved understanding of the benefits of communicating by using visual elements goes hand in hand with the increased technical capabilities to create interactive and dynamic presentations. The goal is to simplify and visualize context that is hidden in large data sets or are beyond the  reach of our senses.

Many research fields are currently dependent on these powerful and interactive visualizations and large construction projects of today definitely need the possibilities of using visualization when you also want the citizens to be able to participate in the democratic process.

The need for a center like Visualization Research Gothenburg

Chalmers, University of Gothenburg, and Sahlgrenska University Hospital have a very multifaceted expertise in visualization. Since visualization is an interdisciplinary field with many specific research fields, it is important to create opportunities for collaboration between researchers from different disciplines. Each department can not be expected to have a full overview over the visualization area, and it is also difficult for external partners to find the right researcher or research group.

Visualization Research Gothenburg is the venue where researchers, teachers, students, and representatives from business and the community come together to develop ideas and projects
